Day 1

Day 1-
The car battery was dead this morning so I had to rush out the door without fixing breakfast.  Not a good start but I am not going to let anything be an excuse.  I took my breakfast fixings with me and just googled how to make my eggs in the work toaster oven.
I slept very poorly last night and I kept dreaming about eating something and then figuring out it had dairy or sugar or something and having to start over.  Hopefully this plan will help me sleep better and dream positive:)

Breakfast  day 1 (8:00 a.m.): 3 eggs scrambled and baked in the toaster oven with shallots and tomatoes (I forgot the spinach at home when I rushed out the door); 3 mandarin oranges; tea

10 a.m. and I have a slight headache.  I do not think it can be from my eating habits already.  I do not drink caffeine all the time so it is not a withdrawal headache or anything plus I am drinking spiced black tea. I am feeling a bit hungry and can not wait for lunch!  I may need to bring a few extra eggs until I get used to not snacking.

11:00 a.m. I am REALLY hungry and yes it is real because if I could have steamed fish and broccoli right now I would devour it so it is not just cravings.  I want to hold off for at least an hour though so I am not starving before sinner too.  I think I will try drinking a very large bottle of water.

Lunch finally!  I feel so much better.  I am working on doing a gallon of water a day and water was just not cutting it!  Salad with chicken?  Yes please.

Lunch definitely had a better outcome.  My portion at breakfast was far to small; mostly in the vegetable department.  I will fix that tomorrow.
Prime rib and asparagus for dinner :)

Preparation day

Day T-1: Tomorrow (my husband David and I) start our first Whole 30. I plan on keeping a honest journal of our journey.  We are both unhappy with our bodies, we suffer from allergies, lethargy, and I have migraines that stem from sore muscles in my neck and my lower back consistently gives me problems. I am sure the list could go on but I am tired of complaining and am ready to do something about it.
I did some research online and found the whole 30 website.  I ran right down to the library and checked out the book.  I read it all in one day because I was so excited to get started.  I am a scientist so the information in the book just made sense to me.
I spent several hours yesterday putting together a plan and spending some time talking my husband into it.  He is addicted to soda and sweats and has never completed one of our work out and diet programs without cheating.  I have made him promise to give this a try.  To be fair I have never stuck with anything for long either so this will be a challenge. You can do anything for 30 days right? I think that the strictness of it actually makes it easer; it is pretty black and white.
I did my grocery shopping today and will do a little prep work tonight like cutting up vegetables for salads and breakfast scrambles so we are ready.  The first week will be pretty simple with a lot of repeats.  I will do more research this week and try to change it up next week.
I have added a basic meal plan for the work week here and will keep this journal to track our progress.
No sugar, no dairy, no alcohol, no grains for 30 days...
